POWER OF MEDITATION

Meditation is a practice in which an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit[1] or as an end in itself.[2]
The term meditation refers to a broad variety of practices (much like the term sports) that includes techniques designed to promote relaxation, build internal energy or life force (qikiprana, etc.) and develop compassion,[3] love, patience, generosity and forgiveness. A particularly ambitious form of meditation aims at effortlessly sustained single-pointed concentration[4] meant to enable its practitioner to enjoy an indestructible sense of well-being while engaging in any life activity.
The word meditation carries different meanings in different contexts. Meditation has been practiced since antiquity as a component of numerous religious traditions and beliefs.[5] Meditation often involves an internal effort to self-regulate the mind in some way. Meditation is often used to clear the mind and ease many health issues, such as high blood pressure,[6] depression, and anxiety. It may be done sitting, or in an active way—for instance, Buddhist monks involve awareness in their day-to-day activities as a form of mind-training. Prayer beadsor other ritual objects are commonly used during meditation in order to keep track of or remind the practitioner about some aspect of the training.
Meditation may involve generating an emotional state for the purpose of analyzing that state—such as anger, hatred, etc.—or cultivating a particular mental response to various phenomena, such as compassion.[7] The term "meditation" can refer to the state itself, as well as to practices or techniques employed to cultivate the state.[8] Meditation may also involve repeating a mantra and closing the eyes.[9] The mantra is chosen based on its suitability to the individual meditator. Meditation has a calming effect and directs awareness inward until pure awareness is achieved, described as "being awake inside without being aware of anything except awareness itself."[10] In brief, there are dozens of specific styles of meditation practice, and many different types of activity commonly referred to as meditative practices.

ASRTAL PROJECTION

Astral projection refers to an out-of-body-experience (OBE) during which the astral body leaves the physical body and travels to the astral plane. People often experience this state during illness or when involved in a near death experience, but it is also possible to practice astral projection at will.

Astral projection (or astral travel) is an interpretation of out-of-body experience (OBE) that assumes the existence of an "astral body" separate from the physical body and capable of travelling outside it.[1] Astral projection or travel denotes the astral body leaving thephysical body to travel in an astral plane. The idea of astral travel is rooted in common worldwide religious accounts of the afterlife[2] in which the consciousness' or soul's journey or "ascent" is described in such terms as "an... out-of body experience, wherein the spiritual traveller leaves the physical body and travels in his/her subtle body (or dreambody or astral body) into ‘higher’ realms."[3] It is frequently reported in association with dreams, and forms of meditation.[4][5]
Patients have reported feelings similar to the descriptions of astral projection induced through various hallucinogenic and hypnotic(including self-hypnotic) means. There is no scientific evidence that there is any measurable manifestation of a consciousness or soul which is separate from neural activity, and there is no scientific evidence for the contention that one can consciously leave the body and make observations. Attempts to verify that such has occurred have consistently failed in spite of the variety of pseudoscientific claims to the contrary

New circuit promises to double data speed on smartphones

WASHINGTON: Your smartphone and other compact wireless devices could soon receive data twice as faster, thanks to a tiny new inexpensive circuit developed by researchers.

Researchers at The University of Texas at Austin created the radically smaller, more efficient radio wave circulator that could be used in cellphones and other wireless devices.

The circulator has the potential to double the useful bandwidth in wireless communications by enabling full-duplex functionality, meaning devices can transmit and receive signals on the same frequency band at the same time.

The key innovation is the creation of a magnetic-free radio wave circulator.

Since the advent of wireless technology 60 years ago, magnetic-based circulators have been in principle able to provide two-way communications on the same frequency channel, but they are not widely adopted because of the large size, weight and cost associated with using magnets and magnetic materials.

Freed from a reliance on magnetic effects, the new circulator has a much smaller footprint while also using less expensive and more common materials.

These cost and size efficiencies could lead to the integration of circulators within cellphones and other microelectronic systems, resulting in substantially faster downloads, fewer dropped calls and significantly clearer communications.

The team of researchers, led by Associate Professor Andrea Alu, has developed a prototype circulator that is 2 centimetres in size - more than 75 times smaller than the wavelength of operation.

The circulator may be further scaled down to as small as a few microns, according to the researchers. The design is based on materials widely used in integrated circuits such as gold, copper and silicon, making it easier to integrate in the circuit boards of modern communication devices.

"We are changing the paradigm with which isolation and two-way transmission on the same frequency channel can be achieved. We have built a circulator that does not need magnets or magnetic materials," Alu said.

The device works by mimicking the way magnetic materials break the symmetry in wave transmission between two points in space, a critical function that allows magnetic circulators to selectively route radio waves.

With the new circulator, the researchers accomplish the same effect, but they replaced the magnetic bias with a travelling wave spinning around the device.

Another unique feature is that the new circulator can be tuned in real time over a broad range of frequencies, a major advantage over conventional circulators.

Rajya Sabha passed Apprentices (Amendment) Bill, 2014



Rajya Sabha on 27 November 2014 passed the Apprentices (Amendment) Bill, 2014 by voice vote. The bill seeks to amend the Apprentices Act, 1961.
The Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on 7 August 2014.

  • It amends the definition of appropriate government to include an establishment operating in four or more states to be regulated by the central government.  
  • It amends the definitions of: (i) designated trade, (ii) graduate or technician apprentice, (iii) trade apprentice, (iv) industry and (v) worker and add two new definitions: (i) optional trade, and (ii) portal-site.
  • It adds that the minimum age for apprenticeship in designated trades related to hazardous industries shall be 18 years although the Act sets the minimum age for being engaged as an apprentice at 14 years.  
  • It states that the hours of work and leave will be as per the discretion or policy of the employer. Earlier the hours of work and leave as per the Rules prescribe in the Act.
  • The Bill specifies the amount/maximum amount of the fine and removes the provision for imprisonment for such offences. Earlier certain offences were punishable with imprisonment up to six months or with a fine (quantum unspecified) or both under the Act.
  • It states that the central government shall prescribe the number of apprentices to be engaged by an employer for designated trade and optional trade. Earlier it was central government, after consulting the Central Apprenticeship Council (CAC) established under the Act shall prescribe the minimum number of apprentices.
  • It permits multiple employers to come together, either themselves or through an approved agency (as against only themselves given in the Act), to provide apprenticeship training (as against practical training given in the Act) to apprentices under them.
  • The Bill removes the requirement for Adviser’s approval for practical training to apprentices as was required under the Act.
  • It specifies that basic training to apprentices can be provided in any institute with adequate facilities.
  • It adds that proficiency test for apprentices may be conducted and certificates may be granted by other authorised agencies as well. This is in addition to the proficiency test conducted and the certificates granted by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT).
  • The Bill states that powers to make rules to implement the Act shall include the power to make Rules retrospectively with effect from a date on or after the President grants his assent to the Bill. No Rule shall have a retrospective effect if it prejudicially affects the interests of any person to whom such Rule may be applicable.
The Apprentices Act 1961
The Act was enacted in 1961 and came into force in 1962. It was enacted for regulating the programme of training of employees working as apprentices in the company.
The Apprentices Act 1961 was first amended in 1973 through the Apprentices (Amendment) Bill 1973 for induction of graduate engineers as "Graduate" Apprentices. The Act was further amended through the Apprentices (Amendment) Bill 1986 to include training of 10+2 vocational stream as "Technician (Vocational)" Apprentices.

Paper electronics could make health care more accessible

Fexible electronic sensors based on paper -- an inexpensive material -- have the potential to cut the price of a wide range of medical tools, from helpful robots to diagnostic tests. Scientists have now developed a fast, low-cost way of making these sensors by directly printing conductive ink on paper. They published their advance in the journal ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces.




Anming Hu and colleagues point out that because paper is available worldwide at low cost, it makes an excellent surface for lightweight, foldable electronics that could be made and used nearly anywhere. Scientists have already fabricated paper-based point-of-care diagnostic tests and portable DNA detectors. But these require complicated and expensive manufacturing techniques. Silver nanowire ink, which is highly conductive and stable, offers a more practical solution. Hu's team wanted to develop a way to print it directly on paper to make a sensor that could respond to touch or specific molecules, such as glucose.
The researchers developed a system for printing a pattern of silver ink on paper within a few minutes and then hardening it with the light of a camera flash. The resulting device responded to touch even when curved, folded and unfolded 15 times, and rolled and unrolled 5,000 times. The team concluded their durable, lightweight sensor could serve as the basis for many useful applications.

Three Dimensional Printing


Inventors Max Bogue and Peter Dilworth have invented a unique pen that draws in the air.
A colorful spool of plastic thread is fed into the pen.
The thread is then extruded as heated plastic that cools and solidifies instantly as it exits the tip.
This allows solid 3D structures to be drawn on any surface or from any surface into the air.
The pen, called a 3Doodler, weights approximately 7 ounces (198 g) and is 7 inches (17.7 cm) long. It requires no technical knowledge or software and plugs into an electrical outlet.
Max and Peter have received over 2.2 million dollars worth of advanced orders for their three dimensional printing pen.
They expect to fulfill those orders and launch the product in the fall of this year.
The co-inventors met while working for WowWee, a company based in Hong Kong that develops consumer technologies.
Peter consulted WowWee as an independent inventor. He had previously worked on robotics at MIT and contributed to a number of innovations including the infamous Uno Dicycle motorcycle.
Max was an R&D project manager with WowWee and has extensive experience in bringing products to market

New Delhi: The markets of the Catalonia in Spain gears up ahead of Christmas Eve with all the decorative. As reported by BBC, this year Catalonia's traditional Caganer is trending with mannequin of Narendra Modi. The city has a tradition of decorating the Christmas tree with Baby Jesus along with famous people across the globe in a squatting with pant down and pooing.

Caganer is a feature of the nativity scene that is seen in Catalunya. Since 18th century, it has been a tradition in which a mannequin of a Catalan man wearing traditional clothes is squatting with his trousers around his ankles and pooing. Here poo is considered as a sign of good luck as it fertilizes the earth and ensures a good harvest for the coming year.

Other than traditional Catalan man, in recent years mannequins of famous people casted in clay, with their pants down have been floating in the market.

A family owning Caganer.com were the one who started off by casting models of Catalan politicians. Now the range includes footballers and foreign presidents, rockstars and even royalty.
